When performing an arc flash study, consideration should be given to modeling different scenarios which may include operating from on-site generation.
This weeks' question:

What size of generator(s) does your company/clients have?

None
Less than 300kW/375kVA
301 to 2000kW/2500kVA
Larger than 2000kW/2500kVA

That is a question that doesn't work well in a survey, with only a single answer allowed.
I have clients with no generation, small generators, all sizes of cogeneration, and several with paralleled generation (8eight 2000 kW units, with up to 7 paralleled at a time), I have clients with nothing but generation, that have no generators (They are PV systems ) and clients with nothing BUT wind generators.

With 6 @ 2 MW generators in parallel, the actual number on-line depends on the load management system. A light load could possibly require only 3 generators. This means we don't have a lot of fault current available. Result = longer clearing times, sometimes very high IE. Do we need AF labels for normal operation & emergency operation?

My opinion is that you need a policy regarding normal and emergency operation if not labels. At one facility I've worked at, there are alternate feeders and standby generator power available that are never used (very infrequently, to the point I have never seen it). The policy at that plant was not to work on power systems when served by alternate source, and labels were only installed with calc's utilizing normal source.

This decision was not made to simplify the calculation only, but included consideration for the alternate source results being very different; resulting in labels that would not have served maintenance purposes.
