Does anyone out there know of any standards that covers non conductive eyewear? Especially for prescription safety glasses. 130.6(D) talks about not wearing conductive items but simply states that the frames cannot be metal.

I want to know if there are more specific details. ANSI Z87.1 does not help either.

I have looked at these guys before. I bought regular plastic frame safety glasses but they have a metal interior, hinges and screws. The ones on this link I think are much better.

You would have to ask Titmus what the melt specs are. But if you have a flash that bad without a shield it may not matter. CAT #1 PPE requires the shield plus your safety eyewear.

I feel comfortable recommending these at CAT#0 as the flash should not be at a temperature to melt the frames if calculated correctly and the no metal parts are a great plus.

Then on the cheaper side we have no problem with the normal plastic with side protection as I have. The side shield covers the metal screw hinge an the protection seems adequate to me.
