Hi all,
I just found this interesting forum. During the last 30 years I have spent my time to develop safety MV products. The latest product is a patented and typetested arc eliminator. This product solves the problems related to long arcing time. To increase the personal safety and protect the switchgear also from the pressure peak the eliminator has to close and quench the arcs in about 5ms. After an Open Arc Test with 40 kA at 13 kV and 0.5s you can still find parts of the Cu-wire used as start points for the arcs. The cubicle is clean. The arc flash could be seen just like a photoflash. Also a non arc resistant switchgear can pass the test. More about the product: http://www.safearc.se

Ummm.... I checked out the website. It's long on claims but short on specifics or test data. Best of all...the sales picture I see is a person inside a fairly large breaker, door open, pushing buttons not even wearing basic eye protection, this along with a short sleeve polyester golf shirt. Nice...uh? To put a sales picture on this site with a person with no ppe... not even safety glasses... I suggest they revisit their sale strategy. Makes me wonder about the credibility of the product. By the way, I have some prime swamp land in Florida if anyone is interested.

I agree. This should not be a sales pitch site but rather a place for engineers and safety professionals to have intelligent discussions and share experiences in the arena of arc flash hazards.
Nice sales picture! It's like the pictures I see in our local paper of citizens with chainsaws with out any ppe and children riding around in their parents laps on rider mowers!
